MBA in the UAE: what it actually costs in 2026
Search for MBA fees in Dubai and you get a wall of study-abroad blogs quoting different numbers for the same university. So I went to the source instead. Every figure below comes from the university's own fee page or its published PDF schedule. Fourteen programmes, priced from AED 66,000 to about AED 632,000, plus the finance pathways that actually exist and the fee clauses that quietly add 10% a year.
The whole field, one chart
Here are twelve MBA and Executive MBA programmes you can start in the UAE, sorted by published total cost. Where a school quotes per year or per credit hour, I have multiplied out the full programme and said so in the row. The VAT position differs by school, which is covered further down.
Twelve programmes, and the top of that list costs 2.7 times the bottom. That is the same country, the same 5% VAT regime, and in several cases the same Knowledge Park postcode. What separates them is brand, accreditation and class contact hours, not curriculum length. Amity delivers 30 credits, AUS delivers 33, AUD and CUD deliver 36.
Then there is the premium tier
Three programmes sit so far above the field that putting them on the same chart flattens everything else. They are all executive format, aimed at people whose employer is paying.
SP Jain Global MBA
Hult Dubai Executive MBA
London Business School EMBA
The gap between the cheapest UAE MBA and the dearest is 9.6 times. The gap in credit hours delivered is at most six credits.Reading the fee schedules, not a quote
Which schools run a real MBA in Finance
This matters more than the fee. Plenty of universities advertise an MBA and mention finance in the marketing copy, but only some publish a named finance pathway with its own courses on the transcript. Here is what the official programme pages actually say.
| University | Finance route | Structure | Total AED |
|---|---|---|---|
| Middlesex University Dubai | Named pathway MBA Finance, one of 12 pathways | Full time, 2026/27 intake | 84,872 |
| Manipal Dubai (MAHE) | Named degree MBA Banking & Financial Services | 2 years, 6 terms, LSEG Refinitiv access | 117,180 |
| American University in Dubai | Concentration Investment Management, Financial Analysis, International Finance, Institutions & Markets | 36 credits, 9 core plus 3 electives | 173,880 |
| Abu Dhabi University | Specialisation MBA with Finance, alongside Project Management, HR, Strategy | Charged per credit hour, AED 2,940 | by plan |
| Heriot-Watt Dubai | Check first Finance specialism exists on the online MBA, the Dubai page lists Professional Practice | 1 year full time or 2 part time | 132,000/yr |
| Strathclyde Dubai | No named elective finance sits inside core Accounting & Financial Management | 2 years part time, Apr and Oct intakes | on request |
| UAEU / AUS | General MBA no finance-badged pathway published | 1.5 years / 33 credits | 77,100 / 180,840 |
Heriot-Watt is the awkward case. Edinburgh Business School publishes an MBA with a Specialism in Finance, but the Dubai campus page currently advertises the Specialism in Professional Practice and quotes AED 132,000 per year. If a finance badge on the certificate is the reason you are enrolling, email DubaiMBA@hw.ac.uk and get the specialism confirmed in writing on the offer letter.
Per credit hour, the number to actually compare
Several UAE universities do not bill a programme fee at all. They bill what you register for each semester. If you drop to one course a term, or repeat a module, the total moves. This is the rate that governs your invoice.
AUS charges 2.8 times what UAEU charges for a credit hour of graduate business teaching. Both are accredited, both are in the QS Global MBA table, and both sit in the same country. A student taking a single repeat course pays AED 5,900 at Al Ain and AED 16,440 in Sharjah.
The finance MSc is cheaper than the finance MBA
If your goal is a treasury, investment or FP&A role rather than a general management jump, look at the specialist master's before the MBA. At the two schools that publish both, the finance MSc undercuts the MBA at the same campus.
Same campus, MBA against finance master's, AED
Middlesex Dubai also prices MSc International Banking and Finance and MSc Investment Management identically, both at AED 76,491. That is AED 8,381 below its own MBA Finance pathway, for a degree that goes deeper into the subject a finance employer is hiring for.
Five fee clauses that move the real number
The headline tuition is the part everybody compares. These five clauses are the part that decides what leaves your account.
1. VAT is inside some numbers and outside others
Middlesex Dubai, Manipal Dubai, Canadian University Dubai, Heriot-Watt Dubai and Hult all publish fees with the 5% VAT already included. Amity Dubai states its fees exclude VAT, so its AED 66,000 becomes AED 69,300. London Business School excludes UAE VAT from the Dubai stream, which adds roughly AED 30,000 to that programme. American University of Sharjah is the interesting one: its tuition is not subject to VAT at all, though the application fee, activities fee and dorm utilities are.
2. Three schools reserve the right to raise fees 10% a year
Canadian University Dubai states it may revise prices annually up to a maximum of 10%. University of Dubai reserves the same right. Strathclyde caps its annual increase at 10% and has already published a 6% rise for 2027/28. On a two or three year part-time MBA, that clause compounds.
What a fee-revision clause does to a AED 100,000 per year programme
3. Deposits are real money and not always refundable
Heriot-Watt Dubai takes an AED 300 non-refundable application fee, then 10% of the first year fee plus a refundable AED 1,000 security deposit when you accept. Birmingham Dubai takes AED 5,000 that is explicitly non-returnable. London Business School takes a USD 6,430 commitment fee with VAT included. Amity holds AED 2,000 refundable and charges AED 500 registration every semester.
4. The extras are not small
UAEU tells MBA students to budget a minimum of AED 20,000 for the one-week international trip, on top of AED 77,100 of coursework. Its four bridging courses cost AED 2,000 each and are only waived if you passed equivalents at undergraduate level, which is another AED 8,000 for a non-business graduate. SP Jain builds USD 1,900 of visa and insurance into its fee. Hult adds roughly AED 4,000 for books.
5. A part-time MBA may not come with a visa
Birmingham Dubai states that part-time students are not eligible for a university-sponsored visa and must already hold one. That rules out the cheap part-time route for anyone planning to move to the UAE for the degree itself. Check this before anything else if you are applying from outside the country.
Amity Dubai advertises up to 50% scholarships across all degrees. Strathclyde runs three separate 20% awards, a UAE National scholarship, a Career Transformation scholarship and the Esraa Mansy Women in Leadership scholarship, plus AED 15,000 per student for organisational groups and 7.5% for CIMA members. UOWD gives 10% for paying the whole degree upfront. Manchester offers a GBP 4,250 bursary and up to 20% alumni loyalty discount.
Almost every school applies a single-discount rule, so these do not stack. Pick the largest one and ask for it in writing on the offer.
What the salary side really looks like
Fee comparison is easy because universities publish fees. Salary comparison is where the study-abroad blogs get careless. Here is the same two job titles across seven public sources, plotted honestly.
A six-fold spread on one job title in one city tells you something useful. Any ROI calculation built on a single quoted salary figure is guesswork. What you can rely on is the tax position: UAE salaries carry no personal income tax, so gross is close to net, and the payback arithmetic below is unusually clean by global standards.
Who is actually ranked
The QS Global MBA Rankings 2026 assessed 390 programmes across 67 locations, scoring employability, return on investment, alumni outcomes, thought leadership and diversity. Two UAE results are confirmed by the institutions themselves.

How to read all of this if you are choosing
What the data supports
- UAEU is the value anomaly. Ranked first in the UAE by QS for 2026, priced at AED 77,100 of coursework, and charging the lowest effective rate per credit hour of any school here. The trade-off is Al Ain, plus a AED 20,000 trip budget and possible bridging courses.
- Middlesex Dubai wins on finance access. A named MBA Finance pathway at AED 84,872 with VAT already inside, in Dubai, is the cheapest way to get finance on the certificate rather than just in the syllabus.
- Compare per credit hour, not per programme. Five of these schools bill on registration. AUS at AED 5,480 and UAEU at AED 1,967 are 2.8 times apart, and that gap shows up on every repeat, every extra module and every semester you slow down.
- Ask what happens in year two. Three schools reserve a 10% annual increase in writing. On a two-year part-time programme that is AED 10,000 on a AED 100,000 fee, and nobody mentions it at the open day.
- Check the finance MSc before the finance MBA. At Middlesex the MSc in International Banking and Finance or Investment Management costs AED 8,381 less than the MBA Finance pathway and goes deeper. The MBA is worth the premium for a management pivot, not for technical finance depth.
- Get the VAT position in writing. The same AED 66,000 headline becomes AED 69,300 at one school and stays AED 66,000 at another. On the LBS Dubai stream, the same clause is worth about AED 30,000.
- Ignore any source that has not cited the university. Across a dozen aggregator pages, no two agreed on the same school. Every number in this post links back to the institution that charges it.
